Happy Summer Solstice Earthlings! At Summer’s Solstice every year, the Sun moves into the cozy sign of Cancer. This is always a very celebrated event in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of summer activities. But this year, Summer’s Solstice has a big glorious Full Moon in Capricorn on it. And what is even more remarkable is this isn’t the only Capricorn Full Moon we are going to have this year! We have two!
Since this Capricorn Full Moon occurs right at the Solstice, we will have a second one on July 21st when the Sun is in its last day of being in Cancer for the year. These interesting double Capricorn Full Moons presents a very powerful opportunity to find the balance between work and comfy home life.
Full Moons always occur when the Moon is furthest from the Sun on the other side of the Earth. Full Moons represent the time to close a chapter or let go of. Full Moons have an inherent tension in them since the Moon is opposing the Sun. It’s like a tug of war or titter totter.
It’s all about finding balance and evolving.
Each of these Capricorn Full Moons are bookends that hold space for us to align purpose with value.
Since this Full Moon window is basically going to last for a month, it gives us time to sort through our Cancer/Capricorn issues and bring a different way of approaching these topics that are so challenging in our current culture. So what are those topics?
Cancer is the proverbial mother hen of the Zodiac. It brings with it the great desire to be safe and in a secure place with lots of good snacks. It is called the “protector” as Cancer is a ferocious mother bear that will defend her cubs at all costs. Cancer’s super power is nourishing all those around them and being a safe harbor.
Cancer’s shadow element is that they have a challenging time taking care of themselves and give more than they receive. This can leave them drained and grumpy. (Think crabby) They can also be engulfed in waves of emotions that leave our dear Cancer crabs high and dry on the beach feeling sorry for themselves and vulnerable.
Capricorn is the tenacious Seagoat that can navigate all terrains and can accomplish anything they set out to do. They love the view from the top and don’t care the costs to get there. They are well known for their incredible work ethic and capabilities. If you want anything done, give it to a Capricorn! They are the Zodiac’s ambitious doers.
On the other hand, Capricorns are plagued with worry about being good enough so fall prey to being over-achievers. Consequently they can be workaholics and never find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow they fervently chase.
So these two Full Moons on the Cancer/Capricorn axis are going to shine a light on those issues they have.
Are you working too much?
Are you a people pleaser that can’t say no?
Are you taking time to care for you and your home?
How are your finances?
Do you take time to feel your emotions?
Are you playing enough?
Do you know how to play?
These are some of the questions that will arise this month. Use this incredible opportunity that our Universe has given us to spend some time on these to bring more balance into our lives. Balance home with work. Caring for others verses caring for you.
This Moon is the opening gateway into this very worthy exploration!
Happy Solstice and summer!
